The African Association of Accountants General (AAAG) successfully conducted a two-day training session on Best Practices in Public Sector Accounting and Financial Management for government officers from the Federal Government of Somalia. The training, held from February 22nd to 23rd, 2025, in Mogadishu, aimed to equip public finance professionals with critical skills in financial management, internal controls, risk mitigation, budgeting, expenditure control, and revenue recognition.

This initiative was made possible through the support and facilitation of Somalia’s Accountant General, Mr. Abdirahman Anas, whose leadership and dedication to strengthening financial governance in Somalia played a pivotal role in organizing this engagement.

Commitment to Learning and Excellence

The training saw the enthusiastic participation of 50 government accountants who demonstrated a strong commitment to learning and implementing best practices from across Africa. These professionals engaged in interactive discussions, case studies, and experience-sharing sessions, reinforcing their understanding of public sector financial management.
