The conference and meetings are scheduled to take place from 22nd to 26th July 2024 at Mount Meru Hotel. There will be several events such as the Technical Conference, Welcome Cocktail, Executive Committee Meeting, Special General Meeting, AAAG Strategic Plan Sensitisation and 2nd Conference Preparation Review.

AAAG 1st Annual Conference

The African Association of Accountants General (AAAG) is a capacity building non-profit organization that aspires to build capabilities in the Offices of the Accountants and Directors General who are responsible for budget execution and reporting for their Governments.

The Association held it’s Annual Conference in Lesotho from 19th February 2024 to 22nd February 2024.

A Recap of the Event

The 1st Annual Conference of the African Association of Accountants General (AAAG) was held in Maseru, Lesotho

The conference brought together accountants general from across Africa to discuss important topics such as public financial management, good governance, and accountability. It was a great success, with over 900 participants from 15 countries. The conference featured a number of workshops and panel discussions on a variety of topics relevant to public financial management in Africa.

Why AAAG Matters

Effective public financial management is essential for African nations to achieve sustainable development and economic growth. The AAAG plays a critical role in supporting member countries by:

  • Providing a Platform for Collaboration: The AAAG fosters a network for AGs to share best practices, learn from each other’s experiences, and address common challenges.
  • Building Capacity: The AAAG offers training programs and resources to help AGs improve their skills and knowledge in PFM.
  • Promoting Innovation: The AAAG encourages the adoption of new technologies and approaches to enhance public financial management in Africa.
  • Amplifying Africa’s Voice: The AAAG provides a united front for African AGs to advocate for sound PFM practices on the international stage.
